Kellogg's has removed all advertisement off Breitbart News website after its branding was featured on a campaign that wanted to force companies to stop advertising on the website. Breitbart News currently has 45 million monthly visitors which makes them one of the biggest news sites in the world (around 10th place) with Yahoo news being the leader at 175 million monthly visitors. Breitbart News was founded by Trump chief strategist Steve Bannon which could be a factor for the pull of ads with the news of Trump becoming the next president of US and therefore causing a misrepresentation for the brand with Kellogg's values being in colleration with Trump.
Kris Charles, a spokeswoman at Kellogs said:
“We recently reviewed the list of sites where our ads can be placed and decided to discontinue advertising on Breitbart.com. We are working to remove our ads from that site.”
Kelloggs is not the first company to fight against hate-speech news sites and non-truthful content as AppNexus, an international advertising agency which provided ad-content for Breitbart has also stopped providing its services due to a recognition of hate-speech in the websites content.
Breitbart is currently holding a petition on their website to boycott Kellogg's over an apparent false statement and currently has over 350,000 signatures with the headline '#DumpKelloggs'. (Source)
It seems with president elect Trump and the current topic of fake news, brands will have problems with integration since company values are important to their public image. This will mean that the process will take longer as the process will require analysis from both ends of the partners involved.
