Facebook will re-open a brand new headquarters in London and hire an additional 500 employees (the positions are currently unknown). The company will have a total of 1500 employees in London by next year in its Fitzrovia office.
Alongside Facebook, Google also plans to open a new headquarters in King's Cross, Central London and create 3000 jobs while Amazon is leaving its offices in Slough and moving to the outskirts of London by next year also.
These reports show a movement that jobs are taking inn the media. Facebook is an industry leading with colossal power of individuals with their 1.79 billion monthly active Facebook users which enables them to keep scaling in both employee numbers and platform users. However the most important thing to look at here is the fact that no other platforms are able to offer the numbers that Facebook can in a constant stream because year after year they will enable jobs to thousands of people unlike newspaper leaders who are stabilised in their market location with held job positions which suggests that social media has the power to be the worldwide solution for those interested in media as a job opportunity.
The industry is very competitive so places will eventually run out for those industry leaders causing an increase in new platforms being born to fill the economical gap.
