Netflix, the biggest streaming platform in the world, is finally rolling out the long-awaited feature users have been waiting for. Similarly to the music streaming platform, Spotify, which enables users to listen to music offline by downloading the content to their devices; Netflix has added this feature to their video service.
The featured was rolled out to help users interact with content in conditions where internet connectivity is not available. Examples of this can be: Airplanes, Holidays and rural locations or countryside. The common one being Airplanes where it is most convenient to pre-download the content rather than spend huge bandwidth fees (if your airplane even provides internet in the first place.)
The feature has been brought in to popular shows first. Stranger Things, Orange is The New Black, Narcos and The Crown, are few of the titles to featured, with more titles having access to the download option in the future.
Enders Analyis TV anylyst, Toby Syfret brought up the fact that different streaming providers offer unique original content such as the new car show 'The Grand Tour' which is exclusive to Amazon could also attract users of Netflix who wouldn't mind paying the extra cost if it is reasonable because supposedly: "Consumers would not feel forced to choose between the two"
